Rifle Elk

Our continual efforts to find unique elk hunting opportunities has enabled us to harvest some of the state's largest Rifle Elk, a few of which you see featured here.

Rifle Elk 1

Our continual effort to find unique elk hunting opportunities has provided us with some Special Rifle Elk Hunts.  These hunts are often on private ranches during the rut, in early October.  There are limited ways to get at the big bulls with a rifle, but these unique opportunities have allowed us to harvest some tremendous bulls over the years.

Rifle Elk 2

Our Regular Elk Hunts often place us in areas where the bulls aren’t quite as big as they may be in the primitive weapons only, or muzzleloader, areas but success rates can be higher.  These hunts typically produce representative 5 x 5’s and 6 x 6’s scoring in the 280 to 320 ranges.  If you’re looking to take home a nice representative bull, and would like to see more numbers of elk, this could be the right hunt for you.  These are five day hunts in the month of October at the tail end of, or after, the rut.  They usually take place on public lands and are guided one-on-one.

“My elk hunt with Ross Johnson Outfitters was one of the best and most enjoyable hunts of my life.  I saw a tremendous amount of elk.  Ross Johnson Outfitters and all of their people were some of the most knowledgeable and hard working I have ever hunted with.” Doug McMasters, McCall, Idaho.
