Muzzleloader & Rifle Elk
Muzzleloader Elk
If you'd like to take your trophy bull with a firearm, there's no question that Muzzleloader Elk Hunting is the way to go.
Muzzleloader Elk Hunting in the southwest provides opportunities to hunt world-class bulls with a firearm. Primitive weapons only areas are never open to rifle hunting and are the ideal place to hunt the exceptional bulls. While success may be a little lower than actual rifle hunting the average score can be in the 350’s and you never know when you might have a record breaker in your sights.
2010 TONY ADAMS 356 SCI
Today’s modern muzzleloaders have dramatically changed this hunt and increased its level of success. The use of inline muzzleloaders, sabots, and scopes is legal in New Mexico. On the average these guns are effective up to 150 to 200 yards. All of this increases the opportunity to hunt the bigger bulls with a firearm. Our experienced guides have been in the field throughout the month of September, and will do their best to get you within the range necessary to successfully harvest a bull with your muzzleloader. Our muzzleloader elk hunts take place in October at the tail end of, or after, the rut. Both public and private land hunts present rare opportunities to hunt record book bulls. These are five day hunts, guided one-on-one.
2010 RIAN BURKES 325 SCI
“I have been hunting with Ross Johnson Outfitters for years and the hunts have always been a great experience. The combination of good guides and prime elk country has provided me the opportunity to harvest several great bulls. The nice weather, beautiful country, and trophy size animals keeps me coming back!” Todd King, Plymouth, Minnesota.
