Archery Elk

If the sound of a bull bugling and the sight of him pushing his cows around is what excites you, nothing can beat the September Archery Elk Hunt.

Archery Elk 1

The bulls are entering the rut and bugling and stalking to within 30 or 40 yards of a majestic bull elk can be a breathtaking experience.  It’s not unusual, at this time of the year, to see herd bulls in the 370 to 380 classes with satellite bulls in the 340’s to 350’s.  Mix this with smaller scoring bulls, that may still be in bachelor groups, and this can be a dream hunt.

Archery Elk 2

The trophy genetics of southwestern New Mexico combined with the increased possibilities offered by the rut make this an opportune time for harvesting your trophy.  Whether you shoot a compound, recurve, or longbow, as one of New Mexico’s premier outfitters we will provide you with qualified and professional guides who know how to meet the unique needs of the modern or traditional archer.  These hunts take place on public land and private ranches, some with developed habitat.  These are six day hunts, guided one-on-one, and take place in September when the weather is usually beautiful.

“My hunting experience with Ross Johnson Outfitters far exceeded my expectations; not only was I impressed with the quantity of elk seen, but the quality.  The guides were experienced, the hospitality was great, and accomodations were excellent.  Harvesting a bull elk scoring 398 3/8 was beyond anything I expected.  Most importantly, Ross Johnson Outfitters has the total hunting experience down to a science.  Thanks for a great hunt--I’ll be back next year.” Trevor Gray, Indiana
